Researchers at USC conducted a breakthrough research which discovered a way to regenerate immune system in 72 hours! The team found that the immune system can be entirely regenerated and boosted more than ever by simply fasting for 72 hours.
For many years, experts have been exploring the effects of fasting in terms of weight loss, but apparently, it offers much more beneficial results than anyone expected.
When people fast to lose weight, despite the loss of pounds, they also feel full of energy, have a more concentrated and clear head, sleep more peacefully at night, and are focused at work.
This poses an interesting question- can the food we consume be the main culprit for our health issues?
Researchers at the University of Southern California who conducted the study claim that their findings might have important implications for people who really need to boost their immunity, like elderly cancer patients.
The research was carried out on humans and mice and analyzed the effects of fasting for two to four days over a period of six months. It turned out that fasting affects the body as someone who is at the peak of their health, and their white blood cell count was drastically reduced.
The white vs. red blood cell count is essential in the case of serious diseases such as cancer, and the higher red blood cells number offers a better chance of fighting the disease.
Researchers maintain that fasting “flipped a regenerative switch” which helped the immune system to regain its optimal potential, and thus recover from all kinds of health issues.
According to Valter Longo, Professor of Gerontology and the Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California,:
“It gives the OK for stem cells to go ahead and begin proliferating and rebuild the entire system.
“And the good news is that the body got rid of the parts of the system that might be damaged or old, the inefficient parts, during the fasting.”
Now, if you start with a system heavily damaged by chemotherapy or aging, fasting cycles can generate, literally, a new immune system.”
